International Summer School Hønefoss – International Management and International Marketing

Each year about 60 students gather together at Campus Hønefoss for an intensive, five-week programme to study international management and international marketing. Students work closely with professors in USN’s friendly and stimulating campus environment.

The core programme runs from June 2nd to June 26th, starting with an orientation for international students from May 27th to May 28th. May 30th to June 1st there will be a trip to Bergen, open to all participants (pre-subscription required).

Students reside in single, furnished rooms with private bathrooms located on in modern and fully equipped dormitories on campus. All cooking and food preparation are done in a shared kitchen. USN provides students with kitchen equipment, bed linens, and bedding. Each floor has a common eating and recreational area. In addition to high standard housing, USN offers a training center with weight room and gym for basketball and other sports. The training center is located on-campus. The housing fee includes lunch served by the USN cafeteria served on Monday through Thursdays between classes.

USN was established on May 4, 2018, as Norway’s newest and second largest university with 18,000 students attending classes on eight campuses located in the municipalities of Kongsberg, Drammen, Bø, Ringerike, Notodden, Porsgrunn, Rauland and Vestfold. The campuses provide USN with a foundation in some of Norway’s most dynamic regions.

The university’s four faculties, Faculty of Humanities, Sports and Educational Science, Faculty of Health and Social Sciences, Faculty of Technology, Natural Sciences and Maritime Sciences, and the USN School of Business offer range of bachelor, master, and  PhD degrees as well as continuing education programs. The USN School of Business offers a broad range of degree programs – from Ph.D. level to undergraduate level across various fields of study: Management, marketing, business analysis, information systems, tourism, law, design and political and social sciences.

USN is a tuition-free, public university. The programme cost for international students is USD $3.150 including:

The fee does not include transportation to Norway, meals, recreational travel, books, travel and health insurance, and personal expenses. The fee for the entire programme is due by April 12th.

USN arranges a bus pick-up on the afternoon of May 27th. The bus transports incoming students with their luggage from Gardermoen (Oslo Lufthavn) to USN Campus Hønefoss.

The objective of this programme is to provide students with knowledge, competence, and skills to better navigate the global business environment. Learning activities move beyond traditional classroom lectures to engage students with companies and people in the Norwegian business community. USN arranges guest lecturers, excursions, and visits to leading Norwegian companies to provide students with insight into Scandinavian business perspectives.

The programme offers courses in International Management (IMA3000R) and International Marketing (MAR327) with learning activities that include lectures, discussions, and group work.
