Creative Systems Design
What is Creative Systems Design?
Creative Systems Design deals with connecting design thinking/system, thinking/systemic design, and systems engineering. Creative Systems Design places creativity as an integral part of systems engineering.
Why study Creative Systems Design?
Creative Systems Design gives you a methodology for working more creatively with complex systems. This involves both individual and collaborative creativity. The methods are particularly well suited for building bridges between departments and silos.
Who should take this course?
All students looking for flexible methods that can be adapted to different situations. Students will be working on their own cases or real cases related to their workplace. The course is especially recommended for those who take an industrial master.
This course includes an introduction to Systems Oriented Design (SOD). SOD bridges systems thinking and design thinking. In the context of systems engineering it will help to integrate systems engineering with advanced design thinking.
The course will give an introduction to the methodology of SOD including gigamapping, ZIP analyses, and evaluation tools. There will be a short introduction to the supporting theories of SOD. The course will emphasize visual thinking, visualization skills for analysing, and as tools for visual thinking, as well as for dialogue and communication.
The students will work with a case or situation that is relevant to their interests and work, where they have to find their point of entry and frame their project. The course will emphasize the creative part of gigamapping and SOD. The aim is to ideate, intervene and innovate in a selected system of systems.
The course will be a mix of lectures, individual and group work. The delivery from the course is a concept study for the chosen task. Masterstudents and others taking courses for credit will work on a written assignment that is due 10 weeks after the end of the course. A completed course with an approved written assignment will give 7.5 studypoints.
The price for attending a course depends on whether you take the course for credit or not. To get credit for the course, you need to hand in a written assignment.
- Alternative 1: Attendance only kr. 17.000,-
- Alternative 2: Attendance and written assignment kr. 23.000,-
